Horseback riding in South Dakota

South Dakota riding centers on the pine-covered Black Hills and the eroded Badlands. Most of Custer State Park is open to horses, with marked trails from the French Creek Horse Camp and guided rides inside the park. The Centennial Trail crosses the Black Hills National Forest, with horse camps such as Iron Creek. Badlands National Park allows cross-country riding away from its marked trails, notably in the wilderness around Sage Creek.
