Riding in Kansas means prairie and ranch country. In the Flint Hills, one of the last large expanses of tallgrass prairie, working cattle ranches welcome visiting riders on cattle drives. In south-central Kansas, riders explore the red mesas, buttes and cedar-dotted slopes of the Gypsum Hills near Medicine Lodge. Kanopolis State Park, with its Horsethief Canyon trails and horse campground, and the Flint Hills Trail State Park are open to horseback riders.
