Florida riding runs through pine flatwoods, oak hammocks, prairies and beaches. Around Ocala, in the state’s horse country, the Ocala National Forest has the Ocala 100-Mile Horse Trail, with primitive camping at its Swim Pond trailhead. Myakka River State Park near Sarasota has designated horse trails, and guided beach rides set out on Amelia Island. Ranches in central Florida’s cattle country offer trail rides, and fall to spring is the most comfortable riding season.
