Where the photos on Viaranch come from, who took them and under which license.

The photos on Viaranch show the landscapes and the kinds of riding you will find across the United States. They come from public-domain collections, such as the National Park Service, and from photographers who share their work under open licenses on Wikimedia Commons. Photos of a specific business come from that business, with its permission.

Photos credited to the National Park Service or another U.S. government agency are in the public domain; they are not covered by the Viaranch copyright, and they do not mean that the agency endorses Viaranch. Photos under a Creative Commons license remain the work of their authors and are shown under that license.

Maps

Our maps are drawn by Viaranch from public-domain data: park boundaries and entrances from the U.S. National Park Service; state lines, towns, lakes and highways from the U.S. Census Bureau (TIGERweb). These agencies do not endorse Viaranch. Riding areas are placed approximately and show where the businesses of each area are based.
